Today Is All About You

As you probably know, about three weeks ago I went from a stay at home mom who did the books for my husband's business and ran for parts when needed, to full-time employee at a local farm. No, not in the fields, but as a Bookkeeper/Office Manager/Human Resources gal. Why am I telling you this? Simple. My time to blog, tweet, promote—and most painful of all, hunt down new books—has been cut short.

So, I've decided to tackle two of those things in one post. How? With a little help from you. Yup, today's Teaser Tuesday is all about you.

Using the comments section, tell me about your book. Is it a new release or has it been out for a while now? As long as it's a romance, it doesn't matter to me. I want to hear about it! Romantic Suspense, Historical, Erotica, Paranormal...bring it! Give me the back cover blurb and a short excerpt.

There's only one rule: Please rate your excerpt toward the beginning of your post, especially those some visitors may find too explicit for their tastes.

Oh, and don't forget to include where we can buy it. Come on, share your book with me!

Hi Sarah,

What kind of farm? My husband and I dairy farmed together for 10 years then I did relief milking for 5.

Anyway, here is a blurb for my historical western, LOST HEARTS.

Haunted by flashbacks he can't remember, from a war he wants desperately to forget, Deputy U.S. Marshal Richard Bennick arrives in Indian Territory carrying warrants for the notorious outlaw, Peirpont Bodine and his feisy, irreverant son, Johnny.

Trapped in a life of violence and abuse, Johnny Bodine lives in fear of men. Disguising her femininity, she retreats into her imagination and dreams of a family who loves her.

Forced to trust each other as they journey across the Nations, a unique bond of love forms between outlaw and and lawman, that can only be broken by Richard's oath to uphold the law and the justice of the hangman's noose.

LOST HEARTS is available in print or electronic formats, from The Wild Rose Press, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Fictionwise, All Romance E-Books or can be ordered from your favorite bookseller.

Yay on the new job. Boo on the lack of networking time. I keep wondering how young mothers with jobs and children's needs find time to write. I'm retired now and spend my days and nights writing. How do you all do it? I'm in awe of you.

My debut novel, STORM'S INTERLUDE, comes out July 15th from The Wild Rose Press. Can't wait to hold my book in my gruby little hands.

Today I am finishing edits on MONA LISA'S ROOM, Book One of The Red Hand Conspiracy before I email it to my agent. This was a stretch for me to write. For example, karate fight scenes that read like two bears doing the cha-cha. This is a sensual romantic suspense set in Paris and a small seaside community on the English Channel. Hopefully my agent will like Niko and Alyson's story, running from terrorists and into love, and promote it with the same zeal in which she "shopped out" STORM'S INTERLUDE. I had 2 contract offers in 2 weeks which still boggles my mind.

Have a super week!!

Hi Sarah!

I hear you! I'm finding it harder to find time to keep up with everything. I only work part-time, but I have 5 kids at home!

This is a great idea! Thank you!

Hooking Up released a little over a week ago!

Rated R.. maybe PG13 (?)

Trisha is tired of tame, tired of predictable. After years of playing the supporting role, she longs for one night of unrestrained sensuality, a night of passion to reawaken the woman she once was. Can she step out of her comfort zone and into the arms of a stranger for a single taste of erotic abandon?

Hi Sarah,

Tormented Hearts is a historical romance and came out in May 2010 from The Wild Rose Press in paperback and e-book. The excerpt is rated PG.

Blurb:

The world of Brett Armstrong, the Earl of Tremont, collapses when his wife and unborn child die. Determined to punish himself for the part he played in their demise, he turns his back on society and retreats to the country. Hard, physical labor during the day and mind-numbing gin at night help to keep at bay the demons that threaten to devour him. Until Catherine Hammond creeps into his world. Not wishing to resurrect his dormant emotions and the resulting pain, Brett struggles against the sensuality she exudes and battles to defeat his rising desire.

Abused by her aristocratic husband, commoner Catherine Hammond flees from his cruelty. Her hope is to hide and create a new life. She vows to never again associate with the upper classes that have heaped unbearable pain upon her family. Escaping without funds, Catherine is forced to work as a servant in the Earl of Tremont's household. His tantalizing, amorous advances ignite a fire within the cold regions of her heart, but she refuses to fall in love with a man who may destroy her.

Excerpt:

As she stalked past him, his fingers grazed her shoulder to halt her. A sizzling warmth pierced her skin and swirled throughout her body. Catherine restrained the gasp that fought to break from her lips. She’d prayed the sensations she experienced last night resulted from the lingering effects of the dream and lack of sleep, but they seared her again.

Brett jerked his hand back as if she scalded him, and it hovered in the air above her shoulder. Unsure, she turned to him. The pulse in his temple beat at a frantic rate, and the muscles in his jaw clenched. It affected him, too. She delved deep into his eyes, and the turmoil that appeared to tear him in different directions caught and captured her.

She yearned for the heat of his fingers to engulf her again, to feel his body pressed against hers like last night, the whisper of his breath on her cheek, the exquisite thrill of not being alone. Her gaze fell to his appealing, moist lips. Not thin and dry like Lord Wallingford’s.

Brett leaned toward her and then withdrew. He swallowed, and his Adam’s apple bobbed before he cleared his throat. “You can stay here with him.”

She blinked as the strange immediacy to be embraced faded away. What had she been thinking? She never wanted another man to touch her. Ever. Especially not one of his station.

My paranormal romance novella, Healer's Fate, has been out for a while.

Corliss Rumdone hides behind her status as Healer to avoid the normal wolf pack hierarchal challenges. A forced mating changes the course of her life. Instead of Raymond, the beta wolf selected for her, she mates with Liam—her best friend and heir to the Alpha pair.

Liam whisks them away to a shifter retreat so they can allow the mating bond to settle in private. But interference from those seeking power and two terminal children arouse past hurts and challenge their new relationship. Even their home is not the haven it should be as Liam must watch Corliss fight for the right to stay his mate. For one healer, death becomes a weapon to balance life.

SECRETS IN THE SAND comes out April 20 from the Wild Rose Press in ebook form....

Gene Nicholas worked for more than a decade to achieve his dream to be a doctor. Wanting to share his gifts with those less fortunate, he leaves south Florida to volunteer for Doctors Without Borders in Mexico.

When Gene provokes a showdown with the local Mexican drug cartel, he becomes a man with a price on his head. On the run, he ends up on Lily’s doorstep--a mystery man forced to conceal his past to protect them both. With the cartel’s dangerous web drawing tight around them, can Lily and Gene survive a drug lord’s revenge?

(Pages 214) Sensual
Word Count 57788

Excerpt:

He stood up, becoming aware that most of the women weren’t dressed in what he expected as usual afternoon casual wear in suburbia. No culottes or capris here. Their hair curled loose around bare shoulders. Two wore cocktail dresses, the rest some sort of silky lingerie. They seemed perfectly comfortable as his gaze crawled over their exposed bodies. Most wore no makeup, but he believed they were all beautiful.

In diagnostic mode, his brain clicked forward along whatever logical track he could get his hook into. “Is this a…?”

The woman smiled. “Bordello? You could say that.”

She walked across the room toward him, the lower front of her skirt flowing open, revealing legs that couldn’t possibly be on the upward side of thirty, although his trained eye recognized subtle evidence of her age. She held out a peach-nailed hand. “I’m Lily Pearl Evans. Welcome to the Sassafras Social Club.”

He automatically took the hand extended to him, felt the softness of her skin against his. Up close like this, he could see she had obviously cultivated an early beauty into striking middle-age allure. Without releasing her gaze, Gene smiled. “I’m sorry to impose.”

“So, Mr. Richards, I’m curious what brought you to us.” Her fingers took hold of his hand, turning it over so she could examine it.

He tried to pull away, but she held tight, her grip stronger than he’d expected. “What are you looking for?” he asked, suddenly very aware of his lack of footwear and his vulnerable position. What if the bordello had ties to Agustin’s cartel? Several of the girls had olive skin, dark hair and eyes. Thinking he was safe, he could have landed in the snake pit.

I'm featuring LADY OF THE STARS, my Regency time travel. Rating PG.

BLURB:
A legend spanning time and the man and woman caught in it.

Caroline knows something is wrong the instant she steps from her holiday cottage into that unusual gazebo with two doors. But when a man she knows she will never see again appears outside the gazebo, she flings caution aside and plunges through the back door, crashing into the man--and 1817.

A voyage through time? Impossible. Richard refuses to believe the strange woman's outlandish tale. Still, the lady is lost and alone, and he helps the stranded wayfarer.

But as attraction flares between these two lonely people, Richard's family legend grinds to its ultimate fulfillment--will it bring them together, or tear them apart forever?

EXCERPT:
Caroline followed him into the room she knew was the kitchen and he stepped up to the banked fire.

Fire? Where were the stove and refrigerator? And all the chrome and stainless steel of the ultramodern kitchen she had seen only this morning? This kitchen contained a scarred wood trestle table with several chairs pushed under it. Pots and pans hung on wall racks and reflected the dim firelight. A cupboard stood against the far wall, next to a sink with a pump. A pump?

With shaking hands, she set the lantern on the table and pulled out one of the chairs. She was in trouble, very deep trouble.
As she sank into the chair, she turned her stunned attention to her host.

Unaware of her gaze, he busied himself at the fireplace. His back to her, he placed the candelabrum on the mantle above the hearth, then drew the fire screen to the side of the grate. Dropping onto his haunches, he pulled several logs from the nearby basket, then arranged the wood in a neat pile on the smoldering embers. Almost at once, the flames blazed to full roaring life.

Silhouetted against the light, he straightened, replaced the screen, then removed his hat and tossed it on the table.

He turned, and for the first time that night she fully took in his face. She gasped. Had she seen a ghost through the gazebo's back door? "Richard?"

Puzzlement spread over those chiseled features she now saw only in her memories. "How do you know my name?"

Eli: Warriors for the Light Pg13

Paranormal romance, fallen angels

Here's a short excerpt:

“I want to kiss you, Ryden O’Sullivan. What do you say about that?”

Man, the way Eli said her name, curling it off his tongue like he was describing a tantalizing sweet. She wanted him to kiss her, too. “I…”

He didn’t wait for her to finish and she really didn’t know what she was going to tell him anyway. It didn’t seem to matter now. He took the steps that separated them. His one hand encircled her waist, bringing her closer. His other hand tipped her head up, cradling it in his palm. Slowly, lazily, never breaking eye contact, he lowered his mouth to hers, claiming her lips. The sweet urgency of his kiss was like a drug, making her shake, breathless and yearning for more. The kiss spilled through to her soul with recognition. She kissed him before…made love to him. Startled at where her thoughts had drifted, she shook her head and pulled away. That wasn’t right. They hadn’t even dated and she sure would remember taking this man to her bed. Man, her brain was severely scrambled.

Sarah,
Thanks so much for letting me share. :)
